My mom was taken to the hospital last night, 8/9/09
It would be too long of a journal to go into all the odds and ends of how we got to today. But my mom is in the hospital after no one noticed her for about 2-3 days. She was lying in her own waste, incoherent, didn't even recognize my dad. She had the dog in the room with her. God only knows what shape he was in.

The update today 8/10/09 is that My mom had a severe stroke. So severe that after doing a scan, her left side of the brain is completely damaged. They told us that she'll either be paralyzed or at worse case, be a vegetable.
She also had pancreatitis? (I know I'm not spelling it right) and a urinary tract infection. Her electrolyte balance was severely off as well.
I am visiting her around 5 pm this afternoon to check on her status myself.
Please pray for her.

Update today 8/11/09 - (First of all it's my first son's 2nd birthday! Sorry Aidan, things with grandma are just so nuts right now, we'll have a better celebration later)
My mom is doing much better considering. She is now vocally responding and actually talking quite a bit. It's hard to understand her because half of her is paralyzed and that includes the left half of her face.
We don't know how permanent the paralysis. She can already move her finger a lil as well as wiggle her toes on her left side. So, obviously it's not a complete paralysis on her left side. Her right side is sluggish but fine.
She recognized myself and my siblings. She knew who each of us were. She said I love you and that she wants to get better. The rest, I am unsure of.
I won't have much updates on her today because I have to work today, but I am off tomorrow (Wed) and will know more then.

8/12/09 -
I had to work yesterday so the only new update I have at this time is that she moved her left foot more and that she moved her left arm.
She's speaking more and doing a little better at communicating. I didn't get to visit her but I hope to later today.

My mom is doing much better. She may be moving to the Extended Care Unit this week. She is not in critical condition but is now in the rehabilitation phase. She's still fairly paralyzed but she is getting better each day... (small steps).
She's becoming blunt and a bit difficult, but I know my mom and she just doesn't want to be in the hospital anymore. I hope things will improve when she goes to Extended care.

I have had a tremendous amount of family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances praying for my family and my mom and I thank them for that. I wouldn't be anywhere right now without everyone's support.
